All manuscripts submitted to JOEES: Journal of Elementary Education Studies will undergo a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of the published research. The journal uses a double-blind peer review system, where both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous throughout the review process.

Steps in the Review Process:

  1. Initial Editorial Screening

    • Each manuscript is first reviewed by the editorial team to ensure it meets the journal's focus, scope, and formatting guidelines.

    • Manuscripts that do not meet the basic requirements or contain major ethical issues (e.g., plagiarism) will be desk-rejected.

  2. Assignment to Reviewers

    • Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field.

    • The review process is double-blind, meaning the reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and vice versa.

  3. Review Process

    • Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on:

      • Relevance and originality of the topic

      • Clarity of research questions and objectives

      • Soundness of methodology and data analysis

      • Depth of discussion and interpretation

      • Contribution to the field of elementary education

      • Use of relevant and up-to-date references

    • Reviewers submit their recommendations to the editor, which can be:

      • Accept without revision

      • Minor revisions required

      • Major revisions required

      • Reject

  4. Editorial Decision

    • Based on the reviewers’ comments and recommendations, the editor makes a final decision.

    • If revisions are required, authors are given time to revise and resubmit their manuscript along with a response to reviewers document.

  5. Second Round of Review (if needed)

    • Revised manuscripts may be sent back to the original reviewers for re-evaluation, especially in cases of major revisions.

  6. Final Decision

    • The editor makes the final decision (accept/reject) based on the reviewers’ feedback and the quality of the revisions.

  7. Copyediting and Publication

    • Accepted manuscripts will go through a final editing stage, including language editing, formatting, and proofreading before being published online.

Review Timeline

The peer review process typically takes 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the responsiveness of the reviewers and the quality of the manuscript.

Reviewer Ethics

  • Reviewers are expected to provide constructive, fair, and timely feedback.

  • They must declare any conflict of interest and decline the review if one exists.

  • Reviewers must treat the manuscript as confidential and may not use any part of its content prior to publication.
